• Controlled languages and sublanguages, especially teletext sublanguage vocabularies
• I was the Executive Director of CLARIN ERIC, the governing body of CLARIN, the Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure for the Humanities and Social Sciences
• I am now Senior Advisor to the Board of Directors of CLARIN ERIC
• I am the Co-ordinator of ELSNET, the European Network in Human Language Technologies.
• I participated in the NEMLAR network, dedicated to Arabic and other local languages of the Mediterranean area, and in its successor project MEDAR
• I am a member of the Executive Committee of the Foundation for Endangered Languages (FEL)
