• Robust NLP (CLASK)
• Controlled languages and sublanguages, especially teletext sublanguage vocabularies
• I am the coordinator of CLARIN, the Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure for the Humanities and Social Sciences
• I am the Co-ordinator of ELSNET, the European Network in Human Language Technologies.
• I participated in the NEMLAR network, dedicated to Arabic and other local languages of the Mediterranean area, and I am now involved in its successor project MEDAR
• I am a member of the Executive Committee of the Foundation for Endangered Languages (FEL)
